Building Department Policy:
The following is a brief policy for the Building Department:
Sheds: building permit submittals to erect a shed shall include a plot plan indicating setbacks (10’ side and rear for lots exceeding 10,000 sq. ft. 3’ less than 10,000 sq.ft.) sheds larger than 120 sq. ft. requires
Footings
Fences: permits are not required for length less than 50’ and 6’ in height, a plan indicating type and location are required at submittal. The town does not survey properties and any disputes shall be considered a civil dispute
Pools: building permit submittals to erect a pool shall include a plot plan indicating septic location and setbacks (10’ side and rear for lots exceeding 10,000 sq. ft. 3’ less than 10,000 sq.ft.) and type of fencing as required by the State building Code section 421.10 ( 48” min. in Height, chain link 1 ¼” sq., 4” vertical max. spacing, gates shall have self latching devices and opens away from the pool, doors directly to pool shall have an alarm system, a removable ladder shall have an enclosure as required above See section 421.10 for more information
Inspections: Inspections shall be conducted in accordance with section 115.0. Telephoned requests are encouraged shall include the name, telephone number, and type of inspection. All required inspections are indicated on the permit, no continuation of work shall proceed until signed off. Homeowners obtaining permits are required to sign exemption and are not covered under the Guarantee Fund
Applications: permit applications shall be fully completed and to include: Plans and documents as outlined in section 110.8, a sketch of proposed work when minor in nature, copies of licenses and insurance’s, affidavits of professional services, energy conservation form, Health Dep’t approvals and site plans. Fee’s are to be paid when obtained. Permit fee’s shall be doubled for starting work without obtaining a permit. All permit application may require 30-days to process and issuance. No permits are transferable. There shall be a $25.00 fee for duplicate permits.
